Lake Norman Little League offers an advanced, competitive tournament play brand of baseball within our Challenge Baseball program. This program is a great introduction into tournament play for players who are above average to highly skilled and are looking to enhance their skills. Carolina Challenge Baseball League Teams up through 12U play against other local challenge teams within the Carolina Challenge Baseball League. This organization was created to provide Charlotte area recreational baseball programs the opportunity to participate in competitive tournaments at a reasonable cost and time commitment.

Is Challenge Baseball and All-Stars the same?
Challenge Baseball is NOT All-Stars. However, playing Challenge Baseball will help prepare advanced players for the competition level found in All-Star tournament play.

What is the age determination date for Challenge Baseball?
The age determination date for Challenge Baseball is a player's age as of April 30th of the current year (spring) or following year (fall).

What age level teams will be formed for Challenge Baseball?
Challenge Baseball teams may be formed at the 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U age divisions.  The number of teams fielded for each age division will be determined upon participation numbers and the depth of talent.

What is the participation requirement for Challenge Baseball?
Players must participate in the league's spring recreational baseball season to be eligible for Challenge Baseball. Returning spring challenge players may remain with their team for the fall challenge season. All spring participants are fully eligible for fall challenge ball. Open positions for fall challenge teams will be filled after tryouts. Players who did not participate in a spring Little League season must participate in the fall recreational baseball program.

When are Challenge Baseball tryouts?
Spring tryouts are held for each age division in late February or early March. Fall tryouts are held in late August or early September. Exact dates and times will be communicated closer to those dates.

When are Challenge Baseball tournaments held?
Challenge Baseball tournaments are played on Sundays. Each tournament consists of two games. Exact game times and field locations are provided the week of the tournament.

When do Challenge Baseball teams practice?
Challenge Baseball teams typically practice on Sundays when not playing in a tournament.

What does it cost to participate in Challenge Baseball?
The cost to participate in Challenge Baseball is determined each year based on actual tournament costs. For the Spring 2024 season, the cost to participate is expected to be $260-$285 per season. Challenge costs are in addition to the recreational program fees.
